History & Figures
Show History
Accompanying the growth of China's plastics and rubber industries for nearly 30 years, CHINAPLAS has become a distinguished meeting and business platform for these industries and has also largely contributed to their prosperous development. At present, CHINAPLAS is not only the largest plastics and rubber trade fair in Asia, it is also widely recognized by the industry as the 2nd most influential exhibition in the world. Its significance is surpassed only by K Fair in Germany, the world's premier plastics and rubber trade fair.

UFI Approved Event
CHINAPLAS has been certified as a "UFI Approved Event" by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), an internationally-recognized representative body of the international trade fair sector. This endorsement further demonstrates CHINAPLAS' proven track record as an international event, with professional standards of exhibition and visiting services as well as quality project management.

The Only Event Endorsed by EUROMAP in China
Since 1987, CHINAPLAS has gained sustained support from EUROMAP (European Committee of Machinery Manufacturers for the Plastics & Rubber Industries) as the Sponsor. In 2013 edition, it will be the 24th consecutive edition to earn EUROMAP as the exclusive sponsor in China.

Industry Applications

Automotive
Lightweighting is one of the most important goals for the future leading automotive manufacturers, who need to tackle the key issue of auto body manufacturing. For auto body materials, new material generally refers to advanced high strength steel, fiber-reinforced composite, cast aluminum-magnesium alloy, and so on. With the performance of plastics continues to improve, plastics in the automotive industry will be more widely used.

Building & Construction
Chemical Building Materials

A large-scale urban infrastructural construction has given rise to a greater demand for various types of plastic pipe, which led to a year-on-year rise in its use.

Household Electrical Appliance

To date, China has become a major country for household electrical appliances production and consumption, and is a global manufacturing center for home electrical appliances. Among the raw materials chosen to produce household electrical appliances, plastics, have become the second most important raw material, ranking only after steel in the household electrical appliance industry due to its light weight, high strength, excellent electrical insulating properties, and excellent chemical stability. In addition, it is also the fastest-growing raw material in the household appliance industry.

Electrical Appliances

Plastics for the electrical industry refers to the designing and manufacturing techniques of plastic insulation materials, conductive plastics, piezoelectric/thermoelectric plastics and their materials and products in the electrical engineering field. The consumption of plastics by the electrical industry ranks third in the total consumption of plastics, only after the packaging and the construction industries.

Cable & Wire

Wire and cable insulation and sheathing material generally use thermoplastic resins, mainly polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), fluorine, chlorinated polyether resin and polyamide, among which the more widely used resins are PE, PVC and PP. With the development of the global wire and cable industry, the demand for a full range of the aforesaid cable compounds has grown accordingly.

Medical Equipment
Current medical devices from large-scale diagnostic instruments (such as imaging devices like X-ray machines, MRI, and CT) to all kinds of disposable medical supplies (including syringes, infusion bottles, infusion bags, catheters, drainage tubes, trays and various non-woven products for medical use),can hardly do without plastics. We may well say that plastics have become one of the most important raw materials for the medical device industry, which will be difficult to operate if no plastic supply.

Lighting
Lighting electrical appliance industry comprises light source manufacturing, lighting manufacturing and lighting electrical appliance manufacturing. The basic requirements for technical performance of plastics are resistance to high temperature and UV ageing, and fire retardance. The lighting electrical appliance industry grows annually by 15%~20% in recent years. Despite of financial crisis last year, the production was recovered in the second half of this year. So, it's predicted that the consumption of plastics will grow by 15%~20%.

Application Status and Development Trend of Plastics in China's Lighting Electrical Appliance Industry
Daily Chemicals
Plastic applications can be found mainly in cosmetics, detergents, toothpaste and other products, where plastics are used primarily for product packaging such as bottles, pipes, liners, packaging bags and crates in the product manufacturing process. In the manufacturing process for household chemical products, plastics are the most direct, convenient, economic packaging method and also provide the most suitable packaging materials to improve the aesthetic, lightness, durability, cleanness, anticorrosive, safety and hygienic needs for household chemical products. Since household chemicals emerged as an industry together with plastic packaging, the high growth of household chemicals also brings new opportunities for the plastic industry.

Tools Manufacturing
For quite a long time, the components of hardware, tools and packing containers have consisted of wood, metal or paper, with results of high costs, excess waste, low quality and greater damage to the environment. The rapid development of China's rubber and plastic industry, alongside inspiration from high-end foreign hardware and tools, has effectively promoted the upgrading of the hardware and tools manufacturing industry in China.

Motorcycles
The development of the plastics industry has offered great application potential for designers, together with plastic molding technology, which has been put into industrial application since the 1960's, more and more metallic materials on motorcycles will be gradually replaced by high quality and low price plastic products. Furthermore, the turnkey housing made of plastics is a revolutionary step forward for motorcycle design.

Plastics development has supported the progress of motorcycles
Electric bicycles
Electric bicycle manufacturing requires a large number of rubber and plastic parts. Just taking plastic parts as an example, the total output value will reach almost RMB 9 billion. If the tire output is added, the gross output value will be even more impressive. For some parts and components of electric bicycles, like battery packs, lights and frame decoration, the application of plastics is irreplaceable.
